For as long as you can remember, you've been dreaming of the fairytale wedding, pulling out all the stops and giving your guests a day they will never forget. The only problem is, your dreams are bigger than your wallet. So what do you do? These are some of the most obvious, yet not so obvious steps to planning a fabulous wedding on a the most modest of budgets.
-First off, try to pick a day other than a Saturday. Fridays and Sundays are the most popular days following Saturday. You'll find that they are a lot cheaper than Saturdays and are becoming fairly commonplace these days.
-When choosing your date, booking and securing your chosen date as early as possible, even a year or more prior to your date would be wonderful. The vendors are eager to book as many dates as quickly as possible and you'll find that you can get great discounts in exchange for signing an early contract.
-Try a brunch or early afternoon reception. You can cut down on a lot of money this way. Not only that, your guests will still have the rest of their day once your wedding/reception is over.
-Buy an off the rack wedding gown. David's Bridal is great for this. Their gowns are beautiful and very inexpensive. Or even look into renting a wedding gown. I got married in 2006 and haven't seen my wedding dress since that day.
-When renting your reception hall, see if you can get an all inclusive package. My package included my wedding cake and open bar, which was two expenses that I didnt have to worry about.
-eBay eBay and more eBay. This is THE BEST site for tying together all the odds and ends of your wedding. I purchased everything from eBay from flowergirl baskets, ring bearer pillows, garter belt, and bridal jewelry.
-If you have a creative thumb, try to DIY as much as possible. It can save you so much money. Stores like Michaels and Joann Fabrics has everything you need for any project you'd like to tackle.
-Most importantly, HAVE FUN with your wedding planning. It doesn't have to be stressful. Plan ahead and breathe.
Your wedding really can be the best day of your life and planning your wedding can be as equally rewarding.
